      Filmmaker Intensive/Meet & Greet

Excited to announce our September Filmmaker Event will be a FILMMAKING INTENSIVE with Director/ Producer Cindy Baer:  A crash-course overview of everything an aspiring filmmaker needs to know from concept through exhibition.  Leave inspired and ready to take action! Crowdfunding 101: More and more filmmakers are turning to crowd-funding as a feasible way to green-light their own projects. Join indie filmmaker Cindy Baer as she shares an overview of her best tips about creating and running a successful campaign. You will learn how to create a game-plan, engage your audience and minimize your expenses. Producing 101: This intensive jam-packed session will provide a first-time content producer with an overall look at all aspects of the business side of filmmaking.  Geared toward low and micro budget projects, we’ll touch on everything from concept acquisition through post production. Specific topics will cover chain of title, budgeting and scheduling, finding cast and crew, and maximizing your budget.  Film Festival Strategy & Self Distribution 101 After you've completed your film, it’s time to find its audience.  This program will go over creating your own unique film festival strategy and distribution options —with a focus on self distribution. You’ll learn how to increase your odds of screening at film festivals and reduce expenses, the difference between an aggregator and a distributor, how VOD platforms work, what delivery requirements you will need, and how to create an effective release strategy.  Director / Producer Cindy Baer has helmed two critically acclaimed features and several shorts that have appeared collectively in over 80 film festivals and garnered 40 Festival Awards.  Her feature directing and producing debut PURGATORY HOUSE was an afterlife fantasy entirely written by a 14-year-old at-risk girl Cindy mentored in the Big Sisters of Los Angeles Program. A critical darling, it won 12 awards, received 2 Prism Award nominations, and was included on several critics’ lists for “Best Films of the Year” before receiving distribution by one of the largest VOD distributors in North America. Her most recent feature ODD BRODSKY (a quirky comedy about a woman who'll do almost anything to find her big break in Hollywood) reached #19 on the iTunes independent Comedy Charts in the United States, #13 in the United Kingdom, and #2 in Sweden and Armenia. The screenplay reached #1 on the Amazon Best Sellers List for screenplays. Cindy appears on filmmaking panels across the country, where she speaks as an expert on low-budget filmmaking.  She lives in Los Angeles with her cinematographer husband Matthew Irving.
