      EVENT DETAILS
      Hwa-Jin Kim in Concert

Renowned classical pianist Hwa-Jin Kim will perform in concert at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25 in UNC Asheville’s Lipinsky Auditorium. General admission tickets are $20, available online and at the door. UNC Asheville students, faculty and staff will be admitted free with OneCard. Other area students, $5.

The concert will include favorites of the classical piano repertoire by Mozart, Beethoven and Liszt, Schubert lieder, and two very different 20th century works also featuring trumpet and a second piano.

Kim, a leader in classical music education and performance in Asheville, has been dazzling audiences since an appearance at age seven on the MBC television station in her native Daegu, South Korea. She gained advanced degrees at the Manhattan School of Music, and settled in Asheville where, in addition to performing, she has founded the Asheville Chopin Club, and teaches as a memober of the Asheville Area Piano Forum and as an adjunct lecturer in UNC Asheville’s music faculty. She also is the founder and director of UNC Asheville’s summer Piano Camp.

A second “star” of the evening will be the piano itself – a new Yamaha CFX full concert grand piano, generously provided to the university by Piano Emporium of Asheville for this special performance.
