The Path of Love: Loving-Kindness and Compassion Retreat

The ancient Buddhist teaching of Metta (translated as loving-kindness) meditation is a training in discovering and harnessing the power of love.In this weekend retreat, you will discover how to awaken and expand the quality of love in yourself so you can heal the relationship with yourself and with those around you. Through the practices of mindful and loving awareness, self-compassion, self-forgiveness, and gratitude, you will learn how to transform habits of self-limitation into making friends with yourself. Doing so will allow you to feel grounded and strong even in these uncertain times. When you set yourself free at last you will be able to participate courageously and creatively in our world. You will also learn to practice Metta towards others and our world.  We will present both traditional practices and their modern heart-felt adaptations. The retreat will include silent meditation sits, guided meditations, walking meditations, individual coaching, dharma talks, Q&A, and groups discussions. In this retreat, we will develop the antidotes for divisiveness and hatred as we cultivate the qualities of love and compassion—forces that can liberate our own minds and heal our society and planet.Held at the beautiful Mount Calvary Monastery Guest House, set in the hills of Santa Barbara, the grounds offer a large terrace overlooking Mission Canyon and landscaped grounds including a labyrinth.
